Pedro Rodriguez Cielos climbs to number 2

After the first championship to count for the WPPAR – World P&P Ranking, the Spanish Pedro Rodriguez Cielos climbs 4 positions in the classification and is now in the 2nd place at a very short distance from the number 1 in the world, Jose Maria Pinedo Fernandez.

The biggest climb, however, belonged to Carlos Lopez Vega, the winner of this first competition of 2020, the I Pontuable Nacional P&P 2020, which took place in the Canary Islands, in the beautiful P&P course of Los Palmares, in Las Palmas, Spain, rising 23 positions, and maintaining now in 22nd position worldwide.

In the Women’s World Ranking, the Spanish Laura Baptista Mederos maintained her 1st position, well highlighted from the 2nd classified, also the Spanish Maria Eugenia Martinez Oriola.

By teams, Spain leads both in men and women.

The next competition to be counted for WPPAR is next weekend, the X Match Portugal-Spain P&P, which will take place at El Campanario P&P course, near Malaga, in southern Spain.

Next 2020 WPPAR Competition this week

The competition will return in 2020, for the WPPAR – WORLD P&P AMATEUR RANKING, this weekend, in Spain, more precisely at the Las Palmeras P&P course in Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands.

The I PUNTUABLE NACIONAL DE PITCH & PUTT 2020 (cat F), national competition of the 2020 calendar of the IPPA, will be disputed and will be the first to count for the WPPAR this year.

This is followed by the X Match Portugal-España P&P (cat C), to be played in Malaga, southern Spain, on week 10, and the Northern Portugal Youth P&P Championship 2020 (cat G), in Porto, in Portugal.

This will be the 2nd year of this new and much disputed WORLD P&P RANKING, so expect even more players to join this Ranking during 2020.

José Maria Ortiz Pinedo Rodriguez is the new number 1 in the P&P World Ranking

Spanish player José Maria Ortiz Pinedo Rodriguez, following the good results obtained in the last P&P competitions, counting for the WPPAR – World P&P Amateur Ranking, as were the Spanish P&P Open and the Spanish Ranking Final, played in the last month, managed to rise to the top of the World P&P ranking.

His fellow countrymen, such as Pedro Cielos, Fernando Cabezudo, Juan Soler and Cesar Caleya, also managed to climb the WPPAR table after a great performance in the Spanish Ranking Final played at the beautiful Aloha Golf Club in Marbella (Malaga), Spain.

The former world number 1, portuguese Hugo Espirito Santo, thus dropped to 5th place in the World Ranking, now having a last chance to return to the top of the table, with the last IPPA competition of the year, to be held next weekend in Braga , Portugal, the LEXUS BRAGA INTERNATIONAL P&P OPEN 2019.

At stake is the 1st FARIOLI AWARD, which will be awarded to the player who is in 1st place in the WPPAR – World P&P Amateur Ranking, on December 31, 2019, ie, after this last competition in Braga.

Tunisia and France: two new countries at World P&P Ranking

After last week’s competitions played in Tunisia, Spain and Portugal, Tunisia and France put their first players in the men’s and women’s rankings.
Tunisian player Sadok Fahem, playing for the first time Pitch & Putt, won the Africa P&P Open and went straight to 19th place in the Men’s World Ranking.
Similarly, Tunisian player Abir Fellah won the women’s standings and went straight to the 5th place in the Women’s World Ranking.

Also the French players entered the World Ranking, being its best classified, Jean-Luc Pannetier, which occupies the 26th place in the world.
In ladies the French Nicole Wahba, entered to the 10th position, having reached the 4th place among the women.

By country, and now with 8 countries, Spain continues to lead in Men and Women, and in men, it should be noted the entry to the 4th place in the world, from Tunisia a very short distance from Italy, ranked 3rd.

These results are justified by the great commitment of the Tunisian Golf Federation over the last years, betting on Pitch & Putt, as a golf specialty, with several advantages, and in particular being a good method of entry into golf.

Hugo returns to first place and Ekaterina Karaseva goes straight to third place in the Women’s Ranking

After Portugal Open P&P 2019, portuguese Hugo Espirito Santo regains number one in the World P&P Ranking, with its 5th place in Paredes.

Juan Soler Espinosa went down to 2nd place and Raul Toca Pedrajo maintained his 3rd place.
With the victory in this Open, Pedro Afonso Mendes went up 4 places, so now occupies the number 7 in the world.

Of note was the direct entry to 25th place of russian Stepan Surzhik and the 25 place rise of portuguese Tomas Ribeiro, who was 3rd at the Portugal Open P&P 2019, now occupying the 19th position of WPPAR.

In Women, the spanish Laura Batista Mederos kept her 1st position, but the russian Ekaterina Karaseva, is now placed directly in 3rd place, waiting for the next opportunity.
Another 3 portuguese and 2 spanish players also entered the P&P Women’s World Ranking.

By country, Spain keeps ahead in Men and Women’s Ranking, although Portugal, in Men has come very close.
Note the entry of 2 more countries to this P&P World Ranking by countries, Russia and Sweden.

Juan Soler Espinosa also reaches the world number 1

Spanish player Laura Batista Mederos became the world’s first No. 1 P&P woman following her participation in the “III Pontuable Nacional de Pitch & Putt 2019”, held on July 27 and 28, at the Rio Cabe P&P course, in Galicia – Spain.

For the first time, five women participated in a competition for the World P&P Ranking, opening up “hostilities”. The next competition counting for the WPPAR Women’s Ranking will be the Portuguese P&P Open, to be played at Paredes P&P Course, Portugal, on 21 and 22 September.

Laura made history, by forever recording her name at the top of the P&P Women’s World Ranking, so we send our warmest congratulations to Laura and look forward to seeing many more ladies in P&P competitions around the world.

Also, after this competition, Spanish player Juan Soler Espinosa reaches the top of the P&P World Ranking, having qualified in 2nd place in the same championship organized by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, and counting for the P&P World Ranking.

He is now the number 1 in the world, waiting for what will happen in Portugal, next month.

After Portuguese National P&P Championships Hugo Espirito Santo is now World’s n.1

Hugo Espirito Santo won the 2019 Portuguese National P&P Championship, held at the Guardizela P&P course, near Guimarães, in the north of Portugal.

The Portuguese player won for the 5th time the National P&P Championship and with the points accumulated in this Championship, he managed to overcome the Spaniards Raul Toca Pedrajo and Juan Soler Espinosa, who this week did not play.

A triumph that gave him the rise from 3rd to 1st in the World P&P Ranking, under the aegis of IPPA (International Pitch & Putt Association).

“It’s something I never imagined in life, to be the number one in the world, but with a lot of work, believing and perseverance, everything happens because “the dream commands life”, said Hugo Espirito Santo.

The next WPPAR competition will be played in Spain at week 30, so more changes at the top of the table are to be expected.

After the 17th Open d’Italia, several players have risen in the World Ranking

With his victory in the 17th Open d’Italia, Hugo Espirito Santo rises 3 positions in the World Ranking and is now in the 3rd position. Also, the spaniard Juan Soler Espinosa takes the 2nd position of the World Ranking, being only 7 points of the world-wide top, still occupied by Raul Toca Pedrajo, of Spain.

The Italian Leonardo Panza, with his 4th place in the Italian Open, went up 11 places, being now in 11th place with 206,5000 points.
Also Alberto Viotto (Italy) climbed 7 positions, being this week in 18th place of the World P&P Ranking.

However, the “king of climbs” was the Spaniard Ricardo Barroso Trujillo, who with his 5th place in the Open d’Italia, climbed 18 positions in the table, being now ranked 17th by WPPAR.

This group of players was joined by two Swiss players, Mauro Zaninni and Markus Planzer, thus becoming the first two Swiss players to enter the World P&P Ranking. They occupy the 48th and 53rd positions of WPPAR, respectively.

Elio Mazzoco is the first Italian to join WPPAR

After completing the 2019 Italian National P&P Championship and after updating the WPPAR Ranking, the italian Elio Mazzoco, enters directly to the 16th position of the World P&P Ranking.

Other 9 Italians also join this ranking, such as Leonardo Panza (22nd), Alberto Viotto (25th), Andrea Fusco (27th) and Luigi Evangelista (28th), among others.

This week the 2019 Italian Open P&P will be played, and certainly this Ranking will change a little more, since the best Italian players will be at this Open, among other international participation’s, such as players from Portugal, Spain, San Marino, etc.
